Do you have an idea you'd like to pursue or a problem you'd like to solve but don't know where to start or who to start with?
The hardest part of starting up is starting out. This September, UTS is running Sydney Women Startup Weekend for women who are interested in learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures.
You'll be signing up for a 54-hour frenzy where you will experience the highs, lows, fun and pressure that make up life at a startup. As you learn how to create a real company, you'll meet the mentors, investors, cofounders and sponsors who are there to help you get your idea off the ground.
Beginning with Friday night pitches and continuing through brainstorming, business plan development and basic prototype creation, the weekend will culminate in Sunday night demos and presentations where your team will have the opportunity to pitch to judges and receive valuable feedback from local entrepreneurs. Your idea should be something you have not previously worked on before.
This event is to strengthen female entrepreneurship and we will have a minimum of 80 per cent of participants as women. However, we encourage everyone to attend and welcome a diversity of background, age and gender.
Tickets are $40 for UTS students and $55 for others. This covers event participation as well as five meals across the weekend.
All participants will receive $300 in credits for Google Cloud Platforms to help build web and mobile apps as well as a free .CO domain.
More information and terms and conditions of participating are available here.
This event is part of the Techstars global movement which is supported by Google for Entrepreneurs and .CO. The University of Technology Sydney is the host and organiser of the event. We also have a number of local partners still to be confirmed.
